Advice on Starting a New Gym Regime

Friday 15th September, 2017

It is easy to be discouraged if you haven’t been in the gym for a while and feel a little out of shape. But with our state of the art cardiovascular equipment, running machines, exercise bikes, cross-trainers, and weights all within easy access, exercise needn’t be a chore… We make it as easy as possible for you to get back on the wagon! Come and join us!

As you start your new gym routine with us, ask our trainers to show you how all the equipment works, and where everything is, and to guide you around the machines that we have on offer.

Here are some tips as you get started with your new exercise plan:

1)      Remember to stretch before you train, to make sure your muscles are toned and ready to go before you start.

2)      Stay hydrated! We have water on site so you never need go without. Muscle is also 75% water, so it’s a good idea to weigh yourself before and after your workout, and then drink the difference

3)      To feel fully fresh, why not consider bringing two towels with you –one for when you are using the equipment in the gym, and a fresh one for your post workout shower.

4)      As a beginner, remember never to raise a weight that is so heavy that you need momentum to lift it; you should pause for at least one second before you lift the weights high.

5)      Our cycling machines and running machines are the perfect way to stay active when the weather is less than perfect outside. But to save yourself muscle aches the following day, it’s wise to ramp up slowly rather than going straight for a 50km uphill slog!

Our gym equipment all here for you from 6am till 11pm every day, so you can fit a trip to the gym around your schedule as flexibly as you like. If you need any advice, or have any questions, please do pop in and our knowledgeable team at the Pace service desk will be happy to help.
